Jacob Gordon
Physiotherapist
Introduction
Jacob is a New Zealand-trained physiotherapist with experience in both private practice and high-level sport across New Zealand and the UAE. In New Zealand, he worked in a busy multidisciplinary private clinic, managing a diverse caseload of patients ranging from everyday musculoskeletal conditions to post-operative care and athletic injuries. This foundation developed his clinical expertise in both manual therapy and movement-based rehabilitation.
Jacob treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries, including but not limited to:
- Lower and upper limb injuries
- Knee injuries and ACL rehabilitation
- Sports based injuries
- Shoulder pain and dysfunction
- Orthopaedic pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation
- Back and neck pain
- Dry needling for pain and muscle tension
Currently, Jacob works with the Jebel Ali Dragons Rugby Club, where he oversees injury prevention, on-field care and rehabilitation across all Senior squads. Previously he worked with club Rugby Union, Touch Rugby, Netball and National Rugby League teams in New Zealand, delivering physiotherapy support at a high level of sport. These roles involved sideline injury management, acute trauma care, detailed musculoskeletal assessments and the design of progressive rehabilitation programs to help players safely return to competition. This experience has ensured a deep understanding of the physical and psychological demands on athletes in contact sports.
Having played sport at a high level himself and having overcome multiple injuries, Jacob brings a high level of empathy and insight to his practice. He understands the pressures of performance and recovery and works closely with each patient to guide them confidently through their rehabilitation. While he has a strong focus on sports-specific rehabilitation, Jacob also enjoys treating a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions. His approach is patient-centered, combining manual therapy, education and functional rehabilitation to achieve lasting results.
His treatment techniques include joint mobilisations, soft tissue release, sports massage, dry needling, shockwave therapy, kinesio and sports taping, force plate/muscle strength testing and tailored exercise plans. Every treatment plan is customized to reduce pain, restore mobility, and build long-term strength and resilience.
